About Us.

Siblings Afro Hair Design was established in 2003 by co-founders Junior and Sonia. Over the years, the salon has been through challenging times but the team has adapted to change and come out stronger and more committed to providing an invaluable service to the local community. 

While training as an apprentice, Junior worked in a few salons both Afro and European and settled in a salon named ‘New Directions’, initially employed as an Afro hair barber. A high flyer and willing to learn, at the age of just 20, Junior purchased his first salon applying his new found skills to ladies hairdressing. His sister Sonia joined the salon as an apprentice, and once fully qualified ‘Siblings’ was born.

Sharlene joined the Siblings team in 2003, firstly as an apprentice but she quickly proved herself to be a skilled member of the team, and contributing to the growth of Siblings, and becoming one of our top stylists.

Siblings have employed many many young stars from juniors to stylists. Some leaving us and going onto university or choosing other career paths. We’re very proud of each and every one of them.

Service, quality and respect for our clients is the Siblings ethos. It’s committed to breaking the stigma associated with many afro hair salons. Siblings' provides clients with a clean, fresh and open space, where they can feel comfortable, and escape their day to day lives and leave feeling ‘brand new’. In addition, Siblings' views clients as individuals and ensure their needs are met.

Our aim is to ensure each client has an awesome experience, so they not only return again and again but also share their ‘hair secret’ with family and friends.
